Hello friends and colleagues. After successfully completing the NY Marathon last year, I’m running it again this November! This year I’m running to raise money to support an incredibly important organization that is near to my heart - Common Denominator.

Common Denominator is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization whose mission is to help in-need middle school students in New York City to love math and build confidence through tutoring and mentorship. As a former Common Denominator volunteer, and current math teacher, I know how crucial this support is, as math proficiency tends to decline rapidly during the middle school years.

Since its inception, Common Denominator has served thousands of students at its three sites in NYC for evening and weekend tutoring. During the interruption of the school year brought on by the coronavirus pandemic, the work of Common Denominator has become even more critical. Their volunteers have pivoted to take their one-on-one tutoring sessions online. And Common Denominator’s community, including current and former tutors, have created a nutrition program to procure and deliver groceries to some of their neediest students.
