Manroocha Singh

Manroocha firmly believes in the empowerment of youth through financial literacy, and direct socio-emotional instruction. Through the explicit teaching of socio-emotional skills, students can build their toolbox of coping mechanisms in order to deal with adversity. She believes that building emotional and academic resiliency with students is the foundation for their holistic growth. She is excited to work with Common Denominator to help build curriculum that is centered in the historic origins of mathematics and financial systems, in order to show youth how mathematics exists in their cultures and lives already. She is passionate about the intersection of math and history, as well as math and music and how that can be taught in various ways.

Manroocha has been working in classrooms for the past 5 years, working in different formal and informal educational environments to empower students. She is a bassoonist and fan of music education, and loves bringing that into curriculum as well. She enjoys video games and claims to be a Pokémon Master, yet this is still to be decided. She also enjoys spending time with animals, and is 100% a dog person.

Manroocha holds a Bachelors in Mathematics and Education from Bryn Mawr College, and a Master of Education degree in Elementary Education from the University of Pennsylvania.
